The summer reading book for this year is "Life as We Knew It," the first book in author Susan Beth Pfeffer’s Last Survivor trilogy. It is a fast-paced, thoughtful story told through the diary entries of the 16-year-old main character, Miranda. After an asteroid hits the moon and pushes it closer to the earth, the earth’s climate alters. Inevitably, worldwide tsunamis, earthquakes and erupting volcanoes change “life as we knew it”. Make sure you have plenty of time once you start this book; you won’t want to put it down!
You can buy the paperback book on Amazon if you didn't buy it from your son's English teacher. Make sure that your son reads it entirely and brings it with him to the first day of class in August.
He should review the study guide to help him focus on the important parts of the story.
