Jurgensen Park Field Turf Project
Prep Alumni and Members of the Prep Baseball Family,
Creighton Prep is extremely proud of the nearly century old history and tradition of the Junior Jay baseball program and so grateful for the support from Jerry Jurgensen ‘69, whose generosity made possible the 2010 opening of Jurgensen Park with its first-class press box, plaza level, seating area, dugouts and scoreboard.
As you may know, the current playing field is not anywhere near suitable for this classic stadium. A combination of many years of wear and the upheaval from the athletic facility construction project has led to an uneven and hardened surface, issues with the grass in the outfield, a surfacing of rocks in the infield and inadequate drainage throughout the park.
To address this problem, the Jurgensen Park Field Turf Project is under construction. When completed late in 2016, the synthetic playing surface will reduce the costs associated with field care and minimize the impact of Nebraska weather on spring and summer play. It will also complete the work begun by Mr. Jurgensen to provide the Prep family with the premier baseball facility it deserves.
We still have a ways to go to complete funding for the project so your help is greatly needed. To lend your support today, please donate via the Prep website, making sure to select "Jurgensen Park Field Turf Project" in the Gift Designation menu or return the pledge form located here as directed by mail. You are also welcome to contact any of us below to commit to the project or call the Creighton Prep Advancement Office at (402) 548-6218.
Groundbreaking for the project will take place on the field at Jurgensen Park on Friday, August 19, 2016 at 5 p.m. Please plan to attend to mark the beginning of another great chapter in Creighton Prep Athletics history.
Thank you for your support of Creighton Prep and Prep baseball. We look forward to working with you to make this vision a reality.
