In 1967 enough food was gathered through Operation Others to help 57 families (500 people). When theology teacher Mr. Bill Laird became moderator, he invited students from other schools to join the program. With more Omaha Catholic Schools involved, more food boxes could be delivered to more families. Today O.O. includes students from Creighton Prep, Marian, Duchesne, Mercy, Skutt, Gross, Roncalli, and Mount Michael. Students are able to participate in the important work that Catholic Social Teaching and the Gospel message encourage. Many Omaha parishes and Omaha Catholic Charities contribute to this effort. Each December food boxes reach almost 1200 local families (6000 people). Many generous supporters and businesses donate time and resources to support these efforts.
