Dear Creighton Prep Community,
With deep gratitude and great joy, I am pleased to announce that The Heider Family has made a historic $8 million lead gift for the building of a new $16 million student learning commons on the campus of Creighton Prep.
The gift, in honor of Fr. Timothy R. Lannon, SJ who served as the 28th president of Creighton Prep from 1988-1995, is the single largest gift Prep has received for a capital project in our 140-year history. In addition, Cindy and Scott Heider have agreed to chair the campaign to raise the additional $8 million.
The Lannon Learning Commons will be a student-centric space that will serve as the new home for a School Psychologist, a Learning Specialist, an Academic Coach and a Director of Student Outreach and Advocacy. It will also serve our five Guidance Counselors, a Director of College Counseling and an Assistant Principal for Student Support Services. Creighton Prep's mission to care for the whole person will be significantly enhanced by this gift and will help assist our young men as they navigate their emotional and academic needs.
"I am very excited to lead this project, not only because it advances the Prep mission by bringing holistic student services to a new level but also because every young man at the school will be able to take full advantage of the new space and programs. It will complement the exceptional academic and formative experience the students already receive," said Cindy.
"My family truly could not be more pleased to do this," noted Scott. "Prep and its mission are very close to our hearts, and we hope this gift inspires others to also make commitments to a new student-focused program that we believe is very timely and greatly needed. This is exactly the kind of impact we're looking for."
Please join me in thanking the Heiders for their exemplary commitment to our Jesuit Catholic mission. I am also indebted to them for their continued leadership as we begin to seek the remaining funds for the Lannon Learning Commons.
