Creighton Prep Band "Superior" for 31st Consecutive Year
Posted 04/25/2017 08:13PM

Congratulations to the Creighton Prep band program which, for the 31st consecutive year under the direction of Mr. Doug Johnson, received a "superior" rating at district music competition on Friday, April 21.

The band performed "The Washington Post March" by John Philip Sousa and "Estampie" by W. Francis McBeth, which they also played at the Senior Recognition Concert on Tuesday, April 25. The group’s John Philip Sousa Award winners were seniors Ben Franco and Nick Swerczek.

This is just the latest recognition for a program that continues to model excellence. The band also received a "superior" rating at a competition in Chicago in 2016, scoring a 98 out of a possible 100. At the event, they also won their seventh consecutive top band award from competitions in Chicago (twice), Kansas City and Winter Park, Colorado.
