School News

PSAT Testing for Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors – Wednesday, October 16

Students must report to their Community Period room by 8 a.m. that day with two #2 pencils. No mechanical pencils are allowed, but they are allowed to use a calculator during some portions of the exam. It will conclude at 11:45 a.m.

Students received preparation materials in their Community Periods earlier in the month.

Quarter Progress Reports Available Thursday, October 17

These reports, which note academic grades, effort grades and other general comments about your son’s progress, will be available on PowerSchool by the end of that day.

To access his report:

If you need help accessing PowerSchool, please contact the High School Office.

There is still plenty of time for improvement and growth. These reports are a snapshot at this point in the semester and are not recorded on transcripts.

If your son is struggling in any way, let his teachers and counselor know of your questions and concerns, and encourage him to see his teachers for help or talk with his counselor.

Parent-Teacher Conferences – October 24-25

These five-minute conferences are opportunities for brief check-ins on your son’s progress. Plan to meet your son’s teachers in the Heider Center on either the 24th from 5-8 p.m. on the 25th from 9 a.m-12 p.m. The Friday morning session tends to be less crowded.

See more about Parent-Teacher Conferences here, including tips on how to prepare.

Volunteer Opportunities

Help with Parent-Teacher Conferences Goodie Bags for Prep Faculty

The Prep Moms organization needs donations for goodie bags that will be given to the Prep faculty. Each bag will contain items such as bottled water, candy, a granola bar, fresh fruit and a $10 Starbucks gift card.

Register to donate items and/or assemble the bags. Thank you! If you have any questions, please contact Lesley Royal.

Volunteer for BASH 2020

Commit now to be one of the 500 volunteers who will make our 50th BASH fundraiser a success on Saturday, April 25 for the students who rely on financial assistance to attend Prep.

Soon, we’ll need lots of parents to help with acquiring auction items. Later in January, to sell raffle tickets, help with decorations and write descriptions for the catalog. In late April, to set up auction items, serve drinks at the event, and help with tear-down and cleanup

This is a great way to give back to Prep and meet great people!

Sign up for Eucharistic Adoration

One Friday a month, parents are invited to the Skinner Chapel for Eucharistic Adoration from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Anyone is welcome to volunteer for an “hour of power” before the Blessed Sacrament. Sign up today!

On those days, park in the east lot and enter through the Administration entrance then sign in at the reception desk. The receptionist will direct you to the chapel.

Thank you for considering to serve the Prep students and the faculty and staff in this way.

Prep Notes

Tennis Wins Metro Title, Six Named to All-Academic Team

Congratulations to the tennis team on their win at the Metro Conference championships on Thursday. Highlights included victories by Gavin Forster at No. 2 singles and by Daniel Kowal and Josh Morales at No.2 doubles.

Six team members were also named to the Metro All-Academic team. Congratulations, Andrew Doehner, Gavin Forster, Daniel Kowal, Mac Nelson, Josh Morales and Nathan Ramachandran. The honor goes to current sophomores, juniors and seniors who carry a cumulative 3.5 GPA, are members or this year's or last year's tournament teams, and are positive contributors to their teams.

“At Prep, we have outstanding athletes, but we emphasize the student part of student-athlete and these tennis players are a great example of that,” said Coach Kowal.
