Volunteer Opportunities

Help A Refugee Family Resettle in Omaha

As a follow up to our summer reading book Refugee by Alan GratzPrep will be joining Marian High School in sponsoring a Karen refugee family that was displaced from the Yale Apartments in Omaha and will be moving in to a new home on Thursday, November 1.

We are collecting household items and some furniture to provide for this family. Please click HERE to see a list of items that we are collecting and to sign up to make a donation. If your son at Prep would like to volunteer on the move-in day (after school on November 1), please have him contact Mr. Dave Lawler at dlawler@creightonprep.org in the Campus Ministry Office.

This is a family of 6 (grandma, grandpa, mom, dad, a 3-year-old boy and a 1-year-old boy). The Karen are an ethnic minority from Burma. Many of the Karen are living in refugee camps in Thailand after fleeing Burma or have been resettled in places like Omaha. Thank you in advance for your generosity!

Sign up for Eucharistic Adoration in the Skinner Chapel

Creighton Prep is in its sixth year of Eucharistic Adoration in the Skinner Chapel on Fridays during the 2018-2019 school year. On the Fridays when you participate in Eucharistic Adoration, please park in the east lot and enter through the Administration entrance then sign in at the reception desk. The receptionist will direct you to the Skinner Chapel.

Click HERE to reach the CP Adoration 2018-2019 signup page where you can view the adoration schedule and sign up to participate. If you have any questions about Eucharistic Adoration at Prep, please contact Mr. Kelly Barth at kbarth@creightonprep.org.

Alumni Memorial Mass – Sunday, November 11

October 2018

Dear Alumni, Parents and Friends of Creighton Prep,

The Church has a wonderful custom of setting aside November as a special time for prayerfully remembering our deceased loved ones. We believe it is especially appropriate to remember them during the Eucharist, which is a sign of Jesus’ death and resurrection. Therefore, the Creighton Prep Jesuit community will remember your loved ones in two special ways as we celebrate the Eucharist.

We ask you to join us as we gather as a Prep community on Sunday, November 11 at 10 a.m. in the Henry L. Sullivan, SJ Campus Center for the Alumni Memorial Mass. Although the Mass is for all deceased members of the Prep community, it is especially for our former students who have died during the past year (between the dates of October 1, 2017 and September 30, 2018). Please park in the west lot and note that refreshments and pastries will be served following the Mass.

We also invite you to share in our prayers by sending us the names of your deceased relatives and friends through a prayer request on our FaithCP site. We will place those names at the altar in the Skinner Chapel during the month of November when we will pray for you and your intentions during our daily community Eucharist.

  • Click HERE to register for the Alumni Memorial Mass.
  • Click HERE to send us the names of your deceased relatives and friends.

These prayers and Masses are our gift to you. It is our privilege to minister to you in this way.

We pray that God will continue to bless you for your wonderful commitment to Creighton Prep and your unfailing support of the mission of Jesuit education in Omaha.

In the Lord,

Fr. Tom Neitzke, SJ

President

Prep Junior Receives Coolidge Foundation Scholarship
Posted 05/15/2018 03:35PM

Congratulations to Creighton Prep junior Matthew Muellner who has been recognized by the Calvin Coolidge Presidential Foundation as one of four Coolidge Scholarship recipients for 2018. According to the Coolidge Scholars website, this prestigious award is a “full-ride, presidential scholarship that covers a student’s tuition, room, board, and expenses for four years of undergraduate study … at any accredited college or university in the U.S.”

“I am very grateful for the award and the opportunity that comes with it,” said Matthew. “I also want to thank the teachers and students at Prep who have had such a great impact on me.”

The four selected for the Coolidge Scholarship were chosen from over 3,200 applicants, said Executive Director Matthew Denhart. “We’re very pleased to honor Matthew and welcome him to the family of Coolidge Scholars,” he noted.

Selection criteria included academic achievement, an interest in public policy and an appreciation for the values that President Coolidge exhibited throughout his life, such as civility, government restraint and respects for teachers. A sense of humility and an orientation toward serving others were also important factors.

“We would like to thank the Calvin Coolidge Presidential Foundation and those on the Finalist Jury for selecting Matthew for this wonderful honor,” said Creighton Prep Principal Jim Bopp. "He excels both academically and as a generous student leader who uses his many gifts in the service of others."
