Dear Prep Parents and Students:
Today we learned that a Creighton Prep student-athlete has been diagnosed COVID-19 positive. Because of the impact this will have on our football program, it is likely to be a subject of media attention this week. We believe it is important that you hear this news directly from us because this student is part of our community. We also want you to know that the student has not been physically in class during his time of infection. Those at risk have been informed. Unless you have already received an email from me about the need to quarantine, no further action on your part is necessary.
Even though we know you have been regularly monitoring for signs and symptoms of COVID-19, we are asking that you be even more diligent over the next ten days. Please use the following guidelines from the health department.
Monitoring for Signs or Symptoms of COVID-19
Symptoms of COVID-19, include: fever, chills, body aches, headache, sore throat, cough, and loss of taste and smell. If your son develops any of these symptoms, contact his healthcare provider and continue to stay at home. If your son develops chest pain or difficulty breathing, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
If your son develops symptoms consistent with COVID-19, your son must isolate at home until:
- 24 hours with no fever (without fever-reducing medication) and
- Respiratory symptoms (e.g. cough, shortness of breath) have improved and
- 10 days have passed since your symptoms first appeared
As always remember to:
- Practice strict social distancing – maintaining a distance of 6 feet between you and others.
- Utilize a cloth face covering when in public.
- Practice good hand hygiene – washing hands often for at least 20 seconds with soap and water.
- Frequently clean and disinfect high touch areas.
Please feel free to contact me with any further questions or concerns or if your son develops any of the symptoms outlined above.
Stay Safe,
Katie Corrigan
