Jim Bopp was born and raised in Weston, Missouri and earned his Bachelor of Science in physics at Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri. He then joined the Jesuits of the Missouri Province and was in formation for seven years. During that time, Jim earned a master’s degree in the Philosophy-Neuroscience-Psychology Program at Washington University in St. Louis.
He became principal of Creighton Prep on July 1, 2016 after serving as Assistant Principal for Technology and Instruction at Brophy College Preparatory in Phoenix, Arizona, the all-boys Jesuit school where he worked for eleven years. In addition to serving as an assistant principal for the past five years, Jim was also Brophy’s dean of students for four years and a member of the science faculty, teaching a section of AP Physics throughout his time there.
At Brophy, he was a recognized leader in STEAM-related education, having established and directed Brophy’s Innovation Commons, a state-of-the-art maker space where students are able to develop 21st century skills.
Jim and his wife Mandy are the proud parents of three children.
