The
Making of… “Living History…Saul, King of Israel” (working title)
The ancient history of the Hebrew people is meant to be LIVED.
We must enter into the stories; we must become the characters.
By diving into the stories, by seeing through the eyes of the characters,
we can tap into the experiences of a world far different from our own.
This is a great adventure. It
is an opportunity for us to learn from the past, so that we do not repeat it.
You may be thinking…“Oh come on Mr. Chesire! I’m not going to be a king someday!” My response… “You don’t think you will be a king
someday?! Of course you will!
Each one of you will have many opportunities to be in a position of
power, and you will be faced with the temptation to abuse that power.
So live the experience of this ancient king…Explore his mistakes so
that your own leadership will be free from the corruption which plagued this
ancient leader…Learn what it means to be a true king!”
This project will require a major team effort.
We will work together, and through teamwork we will create a unified
project that all of us can appreciate. We
must push one another to put forth the fullest extent of our abilities.
To quote a somewhat famous band, KORN,… “ARE YOU READY?”
Here
is the strategy…
First we will begin with a general overview of the
storyline in 1 Samuel 8-31. We will
find the elements of the story that must be included in the movie.
There will be elements in 1 Samuel which we cannot include, simply
because the film would be too long. We
have to pick and choose, and in doing so, we must maintain the integrity of the
story.
Currently, we have split up the selected elements of
the story among several teams. Each
team will:
v
Print off
copies of the script and rehearse the scenes (including choosing actors)
v
Create
props, costumes (including researching the items and clothing of the
v
Devise a
filming strategy (including scouting film sites in Omaha, coordinating
v
Film the
scene: (need a Cinematographer (person who shoots the scene),
v
Edit the
footage: (Team of 2…will add a soundtrack, put different clips together,
Finally we will combine the different scenes into one
complete movie, and we will spend a couple of days watching the film.
