Expectations:  At all times students are expected to be in compliance with the rules and guidelines outlined in the Creighton Prep parent/student handbook.  Additionally, certain expectations apply to this class.

Students will be on time and prepared for class.
When the bell rings, students are expected to be in their desks with book, binder, and writing utensil ready.  Anything else will be considered tardy.
Students will have completed reading and homework assignments before coming to class.
Reading quizzes, both announced and unannounced will be given.  Assignments are due at the beginning of class.
Students will keep track of assignments and worksheets.
A website is provided to help check assignments and print copies of most worksheets.
Students will be respectful of themselves, their classmates, and the teacher.
Inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated.
Students will work cooperatively with the teacher and one another.
Students should listen to whomever is speaking, teacher or students.  When assigned to groups, students will work with their fellow group members in a productive manner.

Attendance:  Attendance is necessary for student success.  Please refer to the school’s policy on attendance.  Students with excessive absences risk missing learning activities and important class information.

When returning to school students are responsible for finding out what was missed and making arrangements to make up the materials/assignments/quizzes.  Students will have two days after returning to school to make up any missed work.

  Late Assignment Policy:

For regular homework assignments, students who do not have the assignment completed when it is requested will be sent to 9th hour.  A fifty percent reduction in grade will be taken from the assignment.  If absent, the assignment is due on the day or return.
Long-term assignments such as research papers and projects must be turned in on the due date with no exception.  If absent, students must find a way for the assignment to get to school.
If absent the day of a test/quiz, it will be made up within two days or returning to school or a zero will be issued.  It is the student’s responsibility to make arrangements with the instructor for a make-up time.

Grade Information:  Grades are calculated by adding up total points.  The percentage is the number of points earned divided by total points possible.  Grades are continuous from first quarter to second quarter but restart at the semester.

            Typical points:

            Homework—10

            Short term assignments: 15-60

            Quizzes: 10-15

            Tests: 60-90

            Projects: 100-130

            Quarter/semester exams: 125-150

Note: Extra credit is not offered in this course.

Notes: Students will be required to outline sections when reading them.  At times these notes may be utilized when taking quizzes (as determined by the instructor).  At times, students’ binders may be checked for a homework grade.
