Welcome to

major requirement.
TEXT: The Weight of All Things Beowulf The Odyssey Macbeth A Man For All Seasons The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
GRADING PROCEDURES: Quarter and semester grades are determined by dividing the total number of points earned by the total possible points. There will be a test given for each piece of literature read and a cumulative quarter exam. There will be a number of quizzes given throughout the quarter; some may be unannounced. Writing, Daily Oral Language and vocabulary are part of the curicculum. You will be required to write five papers a semester. The research paper is worth two smaller papers. Effort grades are given at the quarter and the semester. The effort grade is an estimate of the student's work compared to his ability. If you are absent, it is your responsibility to get your missed assignments and turn them in no later than one day after you return to class. If your absence is not excused, you will receive a grade of zero for missed assignments. All homework assignments are due at the beginning of the class period on the due date. Failure to turn in written homework on time will result in required attendance in ninth hour study hall that day. CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS: Come prepared, have proper supplies, do quality work, show respect toward self and others, follow both written and verbal directions, display positive communication.
