Peer Tutoring Program Mrs. Diane Sands |
|
The Peer Tutoring Program was established to help underclassmen who are struggling in one or more classes. The program is voluntary. We believe that those students who are motivated benefit most from the program. Preference is typically given to those who have failed a class. However, anyone who is struggling is welcome. We meet Mondays and Thursdays in the library from 2:25 to 3:10. The tutors are upperclassmen who have demonstrated knowledge and ability and are willing to participate in the program. When a request is made, I try to find a specific tutor to that student. For example, if a student is having difficulty in Spanish, I find an upperclassman who has received high grades in his Spanish classes. If you believe your son would benefit from the program, please read the rules below and fill out the information in this form. When I have found a tutor for him, I will notify your son when he will start in one of his classes. (This make take some time.) Rules: 1. We meet Mondays and Thursdays in the library from 2:25 to 3:10. 2. The program is voluntary. This means that a student does not have to participate if he does not want to. However, if he commits to the program, he must attend each session. If he has two unexcused absences, he will be dropped from the program. 3. Tutoring takes precedence over work study (times will be rescheduled), athletic practices, extra curriculars, etc. Coaches are aware of this and will not punish the student. They would rather have their athletes be eligible to play. 4. Games, performances, etc. are excused. If the student has an appointment, please send me a note from home. 5. Students must be on time and ready to work with the appropriate materials. Tutoring time is not a time to run errands.
