Two $4000 scholarships will be awarded by the Nebraska Actuaries Club to students interested in pursuing an actuarial career. The two scholarships can be used at UNO, UNL, or UNK.  There is one $1000 scholarships that can be used at any Nebraska college or university. An application and additional information are available at www.n-a-c.org    Applications must be received by March 31. Applications are also available in the counseling center.

 

The Offutt Enlisted Spouses Club will be awarding scholarships to dependents of active duty, retired or deceased military personnel residing in Sarpy, Douglas, and Cass Counties . You must have a least a 2.0 average. Postmark deadline is April 10. Applications are available in the counseling center.

 

The Richard Concannon Memorial Scholarship is for students who will be attending Iowa State . It is a $500 scholarship. Applications available in the counseling center. Application deadline is April 21.

 

The Douglas County Farm Bureau is offering four $2000 scholarships for seniors who are children of Douglas County Farm Bureau members. If your parents are members and you have a 3.0 GPA please see Fr. Tillman for an application. Application deadline is April 1.

 

The Tom Pierce Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to one graduating senior with a permanent disability or who has a parent with a permanent disability. Financial need is a factor. April 1 is the deadline.

 

The Lincoln Builders Bureau is offering $750 scholarships for seniors who are children of a Lincoln Builders Bureau company. If your parents are members and you have a 3.0 GPA please see Fr. Tillman for an application. Application deadline is April 1.  Go to www.buildersbureau.com to confirm a member company.

 

The American Society of Military Comptrollers will award Omaha area seniors with a scholarship. You must be planning to study business, economics, computer science, finance, or accounting. Leadership, extracurriculars and financial need are also considered in the selection process. Applications must be received by March 10. Check the counseling center for more info.

 

SENIORS: If you have a parent who is a member of the Omaha Education Association you may be eligible for a scholarship sponsored by the OEA. Also, if your parent or grandparent is working for MAT or retired from MAT you may be eligible for a scholarship. Application deadline for these scholarships is March 13. See Fr. Tillman soon to receive the application materials.

 

The Carriage House Foundation will award $1000 scholarships to students pursuing training for an automotive career at a Community College. Application deadline is April 4. Applications are available in the counseling center.

 

The Keystone Community Task Force is offering a scholarship to a senior who is going on to college who has lived in the Keystone area for the past five years. An emphasis will be placed on service that includes scouting, care giving, and community service. An additional scholarship will be awarded to a student who is going to a non-traditional college. Deadline is March 15. A map of the boundaries for Keystone is posted on the scholarship bulletin board in the Counseling Center .

 

The ACACIANS will award 10 scholarships to outstanding high school senior males who have demonstrated ability to excel in academics, extra-curriculars, and community involvement, and who plan to attend Iowa State . Application deadline is March 1. Application forms available in the counseling center. 

The Iowa West Foundation scholarship is available for seniors with substantial financial need and an ACT score of at least 25. This scholarship is for $5000 a year. 25 seniors in the Metro Area will be selected for these scholarships. You must submit a response from the FAFSA application with your application, so it is important if you are going to apply for this scholarship to submit your FAFSA no later than February 20, preferably earlier. The application deadline is April 1. You can go to the Foundation’s website and take the eligibility quiz and download an application packet or pick one up in the counseling center.  www.iowawestfoundation.org

Applications are now available in the counseling center for The Metropolitan Community College Board of Governors Scholarship. It is now a half-tuition scholarship. To be eligible a student must have a GPA of 2.5 and have demonstrated extracurricular involvement. Deadline to submit your application to Fr. Tillman is March 7.

Metropolitan Community College will award several Davis-Chambers Scholarships to academically talented, underrepresented racial minority students with financial need. Applications are available in the counseling center. You need to complete several tasks and an essay well before the April 1 deadline.

Write a one page essay on “How can we improve school safety” and compete to win scholarships that are restricted to Nebraska high school students. You will need three letters of recommendation and your transcript with an original signature. Application deadline is May 9.

Look in the scholarship file under United Supreme Council Benevolent Fund for more information and an application form.

 

Iowa Western Community College has a general scholarship application form that should be filled out by anyone planning to attend Iowa Western. Application deadline is March 15. Applications are available in the counseling center.

 

The Union Pacific Railroad Black Employees Network will award scholarships to assist African American Students in defraying the cost of higher education. Criteria will be GPA, essay, activities and/or work experience and test scores. You must have a 2.5 GPA. Application deadline is March 30. Applications are available in the counseling center.

 

The Latino Employee Network of Union Pacific will award several $1000 scholarships to Latino students in the Omaha area. Children of Union Pacific employees are not eligible. Application deadline is March 31. Applications are available in the counseling center.

The Suburban Rotary Club of Omaha awards 10 scholarships of $2500 to seniors with disabilities who are going to college. Disabilities include hearing impaired, orthopedically impaired, visually impaired, those with specific learning disability, or speech-language impaired. For an application check the Counseling Center . Application deadline is February 29.

Six students will be selected for a D.J.’s Hero Award worth $5000. This scholarship recognizes those who have overcome challenges and demonstrated leadership.  Applicants must obtain a letter of nomination from someone familiar with their leadership as a positive role model, their commitment to others and the community, their courage to act independently, their enthusiasm for life, and their humility.  All entries must be postmarked by March 3. Test scores and grades are not a criterion. Applications available in the counseling center or at www.givesalvationarmy.org

 

Kohl’s Kids Who Care Recognition Program recognizes those who transform their communities for the better. If you have been involved in some program or activity within the last 12 months to benefit the community you could be a winner. One winner will be selected per store and then advance on to further competition. National winners will receive $5000 scholarships. You need to find someone 21 years of age or older to nominate you. Nominations may be made between February 1 and March 15 at www.kohlskidswhocare.com   

 

Seniors planning on studying engineering (not civil engineering) and especially electrical engineering as well as computer science, physics, or math should consider applying for the STRAT ROOST scholarship sponsored by the Association of Old Crows. Five $1000 scholarships will be awarded in the Offutt AFB vicinity. Postmark deadline is March 14. Applications available in the counseling center.

WOWT is sponsoring two $1000 Broadcasting Scholarships for students planning to pursue a career in TV Broadcast Journalism; TV Broadcast Production; TV Broadcast Engineering, TV Broadcast Marketing and/or Communications. AK-SAR-BEN IKE FRIEDMAN LEADERSHIP! You may nominate yourself for these $2000 scholarships based on student leadership. Criteria are talent to inspire others, desire to make a difference in society, good character, and courage to act. Postmark deadline is March 15. The National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors is awarding 10 $500 scholarships to students of Douglas, Sarpy , Washington , or Cass Counties . Preference will be given to students with an interest in education, business/management/finance, marketing/sales, or actuarial studies and who plan to study in Nebraska . You need to have been involved in school activities, community activities, and receiving some awards would help. Applications must be postmarked by March 14.

 

Anyone intending to major in Nursing in College is eligible for the $1200 Sertoma Club of Omaha Nursing Scholarship. Application deadline is February 29.

 

The Westside Kiwanis Club awards scholarships of $500 - $1000 to seniors based on past community service, financial need, and grades. Application deadline March 3.

 

The Eastern Nebraska/Western Iowa Car Council will award four $300 scholarships to areas students planning to enroll in an automotive technology program or study for the automotive industry. Applications are available in the counseling center. Application deadline is April 15.

The Engineers Club of Omaha will award one $500 scholarship to an Omaha area senior pursuing and engineering degree at a Nebraska college. Application deadline is April 1. Application available in the counseling center.

 

The Joshua Benson Memorial Scholarship for $1000 is available to a senior living in Nebraska who is active in a form of martial arts. Application deadline is April 15. Applications available in the counseling center.

 

The Nebraska Coaches Association will give eight awards sponsored by the Farm Bureau Insurance Company to scholar/athletes. You must be in the top 1/4 of the class, participate in 2 sports for 2 years each, earned a varsity letter in two sports, and have at least a 24 ACT.  Applications are available in the counseling center. April 1 is the deadline for the receipt of applications in Lincoln .

 

 

The UNO College of Business awards scholarships to incoming freshmen based on a special scholarship application. Those forms are available in the counseling center. You need to write a two-page essay dealing with your interest in a business career. You can write about any individuals who have inspired you or influenced you toward a business career. Application deadline is February 1. You must also submit three letters of recommendation

 

The Nebraska Historical Society will award seven $1000 scholarships to Nebraska seniors. You must have a GPA of 3.75 or higher. Test scores are not a criteria. You must submit a 1-2 page essay on the significance of the history of World War II to you and your community. Application must be postmarked by January 15.

 

If anyone owns and operates their own business and hires at least one employee you could win a $10,000 scholarship. Application deadline is January 15, 2008. See Fr. Tillman for details. Also go to mckelveyfoundation.org   100 scholarships will be awarded.

The deadline for the Peter Kiewit Foundation Legacy Scholarship Program is January 9, 2008. These scholarship funds can be used to attend any public or private college within Nebraska . You must have a 3.83 GPA at Prep. You must also have significant financial need. The scholarship is worth $7500 per year.

The Gallery Connection is sponsoring its first “Create-A-Greeting Card”  $10,000 Scholarship Contest. Contest is open to all students grades 9-12. Only one application per person. Contest ends on January 15, 2008. To enter register at www.gallerycollection.com

Board of Trustees Scholarship applications for Chadron State , Wayne State , and Peru State must be completed by January 15. Students must have an ACT of 25 or SAT of 1130. These are full-tuition scholarships.

The Offutt Officers’ Spouses Club will award two scholarships of $1000 to dependents of active duty, retired, or deceased military or a dependent of GS-7 or above at Offutt AFB. Application forms are available in the counseling center. Application deadline is March 8.

 

H&H Chevrolet is offering up to five $1000 scholarships to seniors with preference given to applicants majoring in automobile technical skills or collision repair. Application deadline is March 24th

 

The Theatre Arts Guild of Omaha will be awarding two scholarships of $1000. You are eligible if you plan to study acting, dance, voice, direction, design, broadcasting, theatre management, or technical theatre in college or at an approved school of drama. Theatre Arts Guild membership dues must be paid by February 15. Scholarship application deadline is March 5. Application available in the counseling center.

 

The Offutt Chiefs’ Group will award three $500 scholarships to Omaha area seniors. These scholarships are for dependents of ENLISTED members from all services (including active duty, retired, Air Force Reserve, and Air National Guard). Selection will be based upon essay, school and community involvement, financial need, and scholastic ability. You must have a GPA of at least 2.5. Application deadline is March 15.

 

Swanson Russell Associates will award one $500 scholarship to a graduating senior planning to enroll in a Nebraska college or university to study advertising, marketing, mass communications (print or broadcast), communication studies, public relations, journalism, or graphic design. Check the website at www.sramarketing.com    You must have a GPA of 3.25. Application deadline is March 15, 2008. 

 

The University of Michigan will award six first year students admitted to the College of Engineering at the University of Michigan an annual scholarship of $20,000. This is The Joseph M. Geisinger Scholarship Program. Scholarship applications must be received no later than February 1.

 

The Carriage House Foundation will $1000 scholarships to students pursuing training for an automotive career at a Community College. Application deadline is April 6. Applications

 

Three Chet Linder Memorial Scholarships are available for $750 each. Basis of selection is scholastic application, participation and leadership in school, community activities, and your educational goals. Applications must be received by March 1. Preference may be given to those intending to study business or business related field. Applications are available in the counseling center.

 The Engebretson Foundation scholarship is based on financial need, a GPA of at least 3.4, leadership potential, work experience, extracurricular activities, and community service. The scholarship is worth at least $4000. Application deadline is March 1. Applications available in the counseling center.

If you have started your own business or shown entrepreneurial spirit you are eligible to compete for a Young Entrepreneur Award. Scholarships range from $1000 to $10,000. There will be 400 awards. Application deadline is February 11. Application information and details at www.goonline.cc   with ACCESS KEY=NFIB   You must have good grades and test scores.

If you have a parent who is an amputee you can apply for a scholarship offered by the Nebraska Amputee Association. Financial need is a consideration. Application deadline is March 1, 2008. Applications are available in the counseling center.

Mount Marty College is hosting an Academic Scholarship Day February 14 and a Talent Scholarship Day February 20. To be eligible for the academic scholarship you must be accepted by Mount Marty by February 1 and have an ACT of 26 or GPA of 3.5. For the talent scholarship you must submit a list of plays, musicals, speech contests, art exhibits, music events, and awards you have received and be accepted by Mount Marty by February 1. University of Nebraska at Omaha College of Fine Arts Music scholarships. Application deadline is March 1. Applications are available in the counseling center.

The University of Nebraska at Omaha Office of Multicultural Affairs awards 10 $1000 Isaacson Incentive Scholarships. UNO application must be completed by January 15. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and at least a 20 ACT. Other criteria are letters of recommendation, personal statement, and Honors and Activities. Scholarship deadline is March 1.

The Liz Karnes Memorial Scholarship for Drug-Free Youth is a $1000 scholarship for Omaha-area high school seniors and the Susie Dugan $500 Scholarship for Drug-Free Youth. You need to write an essay of 300 words or less describing specifically how you have lived and modeled a drug-free life and how you have advocated for drug prevention through drug-free activities and promotions. Application must be received by 4:00 p.m. February 15, 2008 at PRIDE-Omaha Inc.

Sons or stepsons of veterans who served in the Armed Forces during Korea , Vietnam , Grenada and Lebanon , Panama , and the Persian Gulf are eligible to compete for an American Legion Auxiliary National President’s Scholarship. Application Instructions are available in the Counseling Center . March 1 is deadline. You must have 50 hours of documented community service and write a 1000 word essay on “My Vision of Freedom.” There is a financial need criterion.

If you have a parent or grandparent or great-grandparent who has been a member of the American Legion or American Legion Auxiliary for the past two years you may apply for a scholarship to be awarded by the Nebraska Legion. Deadline to apply is March 15. You must also have a 3.0 average for the past semester and the last semester of junior year.

 

Goodrich Scholarship Applications are available for the University of Nebraska at Omaha. These are full-tuition scholarships. Students of all academic levels are selected. This scholarship is based on financial need and the willingness to take one specific course in English and several specified social studies courses. Deadline for application is February 15.

 

The Fraser Stryker Diversity Scholarship is for minority students who are interested in pursuing a law career. This is for $2500 per year. Applications are due to your counselor by March 7. Qualifications: Financial need, 24 ACT, Minority status, GPA of at least 3.8. See Fr. Tillman for an application.

 

AXA Community Scholarships of $2000 will be awarded to several Omaha area seniors who have accomplished an outstanding achievement in an activity or  project at school, work, or in the community. Postmark deadline is February 15, 2008. Download an application at www.axa-achievement.com 

The Davis Scholarship for multicultural students planning to attend UNO, UNL, or UNK are due by February 1, 2008. You must have some financial need and you should be involved in organizations or activities related to your racial/ethnic group. Scholarships range from $2000-$4000 per year. Applications available in the counseling center.

The National Association of Purchasing Management-- Nebraska “Excellence in Business” scholarship is for students seeking a degree in Business Administration at a Nebraska college.. Selection will be based on academic performance, involvement in activities, leadership positions held, recognition received, and three recommendations submitted. Strong consideration will be given to the son or grandson of a NAPM-Nebraska member. Applications must be received by March 1, 2008.

 

John Carroll University offers one four-year full-tuition scholarship (Castellano Scholarship)  to a student who intends to major in Latin or ancient Greek at John Carroll. Application deadline is February 4. More information available in the counseling center. 

The Great Plains Association for College Admission Counseling (GPACAC) is sponsoring two scholarships for $1000 to be awarded to Nebraska high school seniors. Your highest ACT score must be between 21-28. You must have at least a 3.0 GPA. You need to write a 500 word maximum essay. Application deadline is February 29. If you have operated your own business while in high school you are eligible for the McKelvey Foundation scholarship worth $10,000 per year. You must have had at least one employee in addition to yourself. GPA and financial need will not be considered. Selection is based entirely upon entrepreneurial spirit. 100 scholarships will be awarded. Apply online at www.mckelveyfoundation.org    Application deadline is January 15, 2008.

 

Bernard C. Harris Scholarship of $1000 is based on the completion of an essay “Why My Family Is Important to Me”. Application needs to be returned to Counseling Center by February 23. Part-time work, volunteer or community work, or starting a business are also requirements. You must have a 3.0 cumulative average at Prep. Application available in the counseling center.

   

The Sam Walton Community Scholarship is a $1000 scholarship. You can learn particulars and find an application at www.walmartfoundation.org   Use the access code SWCS.  Application deadline is January 14, 2008.

 

Maynard Jensen American Legion Memorial Scholarship for those planning to attend a Nebraska college. Criteria: son or daughter, grandchild, or great-grandchild, adopted or step-children of members of the American Legion or POW, MIA, KIA or deceased veteran; grades, extra-curricular activities, and financial need. March 1 is the deadline.

If you are an Eagle Scout you can apply for The American Legion Eagle Scout of the Year. That scholarship is worth $10,000. There are 3 runner-up awards worth $2500 each. Application must be received in Lincoln , Nebraska by March 3. Application is quite extensive and so you must start on it early. Application available in the counseling center.

Columbia College in Missouri awards 5 full-tuition, room and board scholarships and five full-tuition scholarships. You are eligible to apply for these if you have a 25 on the ACT and a 3.5 GPA. You must apply for admission and complete a scholarship application prior to January 22. See Fr. Tillman for more information or go to www.ccis.edu/day/scholarshipday

University of Nebraska at Kearney Music Scholarship audition days are January 25, February 16 and 22 and March 7 and 8. See Fr. Tillman for more information.

The Minnesota Transplants award a $500 scholarship to some Nebraska or Western Iowa senior who plans to attend a Minnesota college or university. Application deadline is February 9, Applications are available in the counseling center.

Best Buy awards scholarships to graduating seniors who have good grades and have been involved outside the classroom. Apply at www.bestbuy.com/scholarships    Application deadline is February 15.

Doane College offers full-tuition scholarships. Up to ten Senator Hugh Butler Academic Leadership Awards will be presented. You must have an ACT of 30 and a 3.6 GPA. Application for scholarship and admission must be postmarked by January 31.

The Wayne State College Department of Art and Design will be awarding several scholarships to students interested in attending Wayne State as an art student. You must submit a portfolio between February 11 and 25. Application available from Fr. Tillman.

The Omaha Association of Information Technology Professionals is offering several $1000 scholarships to help further the information technology education of people in the Omaha region. Applications are available at www.aitpomaha.org      All applications are due by April 4,2008

The Nebraska Roping Horse Association sponsors The $500 Ray Warren/Tom Frost Memorial Scholarship is for students with a past or present interest in agriculture, ranching, horses, livestock, 4-H, or related field. You need to be in the top 1/4 of your class with an ACT of at least 26. Application deadline is February 28.

Veishea offers students planning to attend Iowa State next year two scholarships. One is based on community involvement and the other is based on leadership. You may apply for both. You need to have a 3.0 GPA at Prep.  For the leadership scholarship you need to be in the top 15% of the class and have at least a 26 ACT. Application deadline for the scholarships is Feb. 4. Application are available in the counseling center or at www.veishea.iastate.edu

Anyone planning to attend Southeast Community College can apply for scholarships online at https://scc.scholarships.nelnet.net/       Application deadline is February 1.

The Nebraska Society of Professional Engineers will award one $1000 scholarship to applicants who plan to enroll in an accredited engineering program in the state of Nebraska and the Eastern Chapter will award one $1000 scholarship that can be used at any accredited engineering curriculum in Nebraska. You must have GPA of at least 3.5 and Math ACT score of 29 and English score of 29 or SAT Math of 700 and Verbal 600. Selection is based on GPA, Essay, Activities and Work Experience, and Test scores. Application deadline is Feb 8

 

  Oglethorpe University is in Atlanta , Georgia . They are looking for students with a superior record of leadership or active involvement in community service with leadership development activities or a commitment to performing and understanding Shakespeare.  Other requirement include an ACT of 25 or GPA of 3.0.  More information is posted on the bulletin board opposite room 010. Deadline for application is December 5.

Northwest Missouri State University College of Business and Professional Studies offers two freshman scholarships worth $1950 for students planning to major in Accounting, Economics, Finance, International Business, Computer Management Systems, Broadcasting, Journalism, Marketing, Management, or Computer Science. Deadline for application is December 1. You need to submit an application form, a letter of recommendation and a 1-2 page essay. These are available in the counseling center. There are also two Hawkins Accounting Scholarships for students planning to major in accounting. Those applications need to be postmarked by February 1.

 

Regis University offers full-tuition scholarships for Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Scholarships are offered based on results of exams given at Regis on February 1-2 or February 8-9. You must be admitted prior to taking the exams. See Fr. Tillman in order to register for the exam.

The National Commission for Cooperative Education is sponsoring a Scholarship Program and will award 18 $600 scholarships to students planning on participating in cooperative education at  Drexel, Johnson and Wales, Kettering, C.W.Post, Northeastern, Pace, Rochester Institute of Technology, Cincinnati, Wentworth Institute of Technology, or Toledo . Deadline is February 15 and must be made to the NCCE and not the school. Application available from Fr. Tillman or online at www.co-op.edu

 

If you have started your own business you are eligible to compete for a Young Entrepreneur Award. Scholarships range from $1000 to $10,000. There will be 406 awards. Scholarship deadline for Wayne State College is December 1. There are scholarships ranging to full-tuition. You are eligible for consideration of a full-tuition scholarship if you have an ACT of 25 or higher and good grades. There are also full-tuition scholarships for multicultural students.

 

Nelnet College Planning will award ten $25,000 scholarships and 750 $1000 scholarships beginning November 9 and continuing through August 8. You can enter as frequently as you want at www.nelnet.com/win   Juniors are eligible to enter.

 

US Bank will award 30 $1000 scholarships. You can apply by visiting the US Bank website at   www.usbank.com/studentbanking       Application deadline is February 28.

If you have exhibited leadership in activities in high school and/or the community and might attend UNO the Phillip Schrager Scholarship Program for Student Leaders is for you. The scholarship is worth $2500 per year. Application deadline is February 1. Grades and test scores will not be the major factor in selecting recipients. Applications are available in the counseling center. 

The ASAP/Union Bank—Lincoln Journal Star “We Have Money to Learn” scholarships will be awarded weekly. A total of 24 $500 scholarships will be awarded. An application form is available at www.asapubt.com

Engineering Scholarships sponsored by the Society of Automotive Engineers. Fourteen undesignated Scholarships and several University sponsored scholarships are available. Amounts vary.  Applications must be postmarked by December 1. These apply to all engineering fields, not just automotive engineering.

National Peace Essay Contest is open to all students in grades 9-12. There will be three national winners with a top prize of $10,000 and one Nebraska winner who receives $1000 and an all-expenses paid trip to Washington, D.C. To find out more information check the web at www.usip.org/npec  Contest deadline is February 1, 2008.

The Coco-Cola scholarship competition is worth $5000 a year. You can apply online at www.coca-colascholars.org     This is a very competitive scholarship and is only for the student with top grades, test scores, and extensive extra-curricular involvement. The Nebraska organization “Gambling with the Good Life” is sponsoring an essay contest for juniors and seniors. Your essay must be 500 – 1500 words in length. Clarity, innovative thinking and factual accuracy will be judging criteria. Contest will end on December 1. There will be two $5000 scholarship winners, one $2000, and 6 $1000 winners. The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards gives scholarships to students who have done a great deal of volunteer work since September of 2006. Creighton Prep will submit our best candidate. Please turn your applications in to the Counseling Center by October Oct.31. Applications available at www.prudential.com/spirit This is open to students in grades 9-12.

Montana State University offers 20 presidential scholarships. These scholarships could be worth up to full-tuition plus $1500. To be competitive you need an ACT of 30 or SAT of 1320 and a GPA of at least 3.75. Application deadline is January 11, 2008.

Dana College in Blair is hosting a Scholarship Day on Sunday, December 9. You must be accepted to Dana and have a GPA of 3.5 and an ACT of at least 25 to compete for the top scholarships. Other scholarships are available if you do not meet these criteria. Register by calling 1-800-444-DANA

Southern Methodist University has several scholarships ranging from $3000 to full-tuition. Submit regular application by January 15. November 1 deadline is preferred for best scholarship consideration. Hunt Leadership Scholars are reserved for those who have had significant leadership positions and are nearly full tuition. There will be 20 Hunt Leadership Scholars.

The University of Iowa Presidential Scholarship Program awards $13,000 scholarships and $3000 scholarships. You must have a 3.9 GPA and an ACT of 30 or SAT of 1290. Selection based on academic performance, test scores, essay, and high school or community involvement. Application deadline is December 14.

Scholarship application for Emory University is due November 1. They must be accompanied by a nomination form. Please let Fr. Tillman know if you want one of these by October 23. 70 students are selected out of 2100 nominations for full-tuition scholarships..

Two participants in Camp Enterprise will win $1000 scholarships. There will also be other prizes for participants. This event is especially appropriate for students intending a business major. This event is being held on Saturday, November 17 at Chalco Hills Nature Center from 8:00 a.m - 4:30 p.m. Prep can send two participants. Let your college counselor know if you are interested in being one of the two Prep nominees. Deadline for nomination is October 18.

Horatio Alger scholarships are available to seniors who have demonstrated integrity, hard work, and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity. You should have an adjusted gross family income less the $50,000. GPA of 2.0 or higher is adequate. Students need to complete an application online by October 30 at www.horatioalger.org/scholarships

Any student wishing to be nominated for a scholarship at Midland Lutheran College in Fremont please notify Fr. Tillman by November 15.

Fairfield University awards 160 scholarships ranging from $8000-$13,000. Scholarship filing deadline is December 1. There are also special need based scholarships for students from Jesuit high schools.

The Gongaware Center at Indiana State University awards the Gongaware Scholarship worth $25,000 over four years to students entering the Financial Services area or Insurance and Risk Management major at Indiana State University. You need to have a 3.97 at Prep and an ACT of 22. Application deadline to Fr. Tillman is October 24.

Burger King is sponsoring a scholarship program for students who work 15-20 hours a week, have financial need, involved in school and community activities, and have a GPA above 2.5.  Application deadline is Feb. 15, 2008. Log on at www.bk.com/scholars to apply. .

The J.D. Edwards Honors Program in Computer Science and Management scholarship at UNL is for room and board, and books in addition to other tuition scholarships you receive from UNL. You can major in any thing but must take 5 business courses and 5 computer courses during your time at UNL. You will also have preference on new residential living suites that have just been completed. An ACT of 30 is required and an interest in technology and business. You must submit a special scholarship application by November 19  Go to http://jdedwards.unl.edu

Juniors and Seniors can compete for $43,500 to be awarded to 236 winners in the Ayn Rand Essay Contest. Students must submit an essay based on the novel “The Fountainhead”. Topics and rules are available in the counseling center. Entries must be postmarked by April 25, 2008.

One student from Nebraska will win a $10,000 scholarship as an AXA Achiever. To qualify you must be well-rounded, determined to succeed, and have achieved excellence outside the classroom--at a job, sport, or extracurricular activity. Application available at www.axa-achievement.com      Application deadline is December 15.

Five Catholic High School Seniors will receive $1000 scholarships for their winning essays in the Fireside Essay Scholarship Contest. Essays must be limited to 750 words. The topic is: “How is your religious education influencing your life?”  Deadline for submitting to Fr. Tillman is November 9, 2007.

The University of Minnesota considers students in the top 25% of their class for a $3500 National Scholarship. Your U of M application must be submitted by December 15. No other application is necessary.

Richmond University awards 50 full-tuition scholarships in each incoming class. Richmond Scholars Applications are due by December 15.

The deadline for the Peter Kiewit Foundation Legacy Scholarship Program is January 9, 2008. These scholarship funds can be used to attend any public or private college within Nebraska. You must have a 3.83 GPA at Prep. You must also have significant financial need. The scholarship is worth $7500 per year.

The University of Kansas School of Engineering awards scholarships from $1000 to full-tuition. You must complete the “Undergraduate Application for Admission and Scholarships” by December 1.

The Gallery Connection is sponsoring its first “Create-A-Greeting Card”  $10,000 Scholarship Contest. Contest is open to all students grades 9-12. Only one application per person. Contest ends on January 15, 2008. To enter register at www.gallerycollection.com
