Services for Students with Learning Disabilities

Creighton Preparatory School has limited resources for students with learning disabilities.  Funding for such services are provided by the local public school district.  Students with severe learning difficulties may need to enroll in their local public school district to receive all requested accommodations.

Creighton Preparatory School will provide limited accommodations to students who can provide a clear statement of a specific diagnosis from a qualified professional made within the last three years.  This diagnosis must include a narrative describing the student’s disability and specific recommendations for academic compensatory strategies.  Creighton Prep will assist families and students in developing an accommodation plan that we can reasonably implement within the capabilities of our limited resources.

The SOAR Program

SOAR is a program of weekly, guided supervision of academic progress to help students improve their skills in the areas of: Structure, Organization, Accountability, and Responsibility.  Students on academic probation are required to complete weekly progress reports with their teachers and deliver them to their parents.  Any student not on academic probation may voluntarily take part in this program.

Peer Tutoring Program

Creighton Prep provides a peer tutoring program that is aimed primarily at students who are experiencing serious academic difficulty.  Academically successful juniors and seniors provide tutoring to their peers in a wide variety of subject areas.  Tutoring takes place two days per week for one hour after school.  The program serves primarily freshmen and sophomores but interested upperclassmen may make use of the program as well.   Students may be required or recommended to participate in the program based on progress reports and report cards.  Other students may request tutoring if space is available.  More information can be obtained from the director of the tutoring program or through the high school office.
