I would like to introduce you to Creighton Prep’s summer program, Camp Magis.  This program, which takes place on Prep’s campus, serves boys who are currently in the 4th, 5th, and 6th grades.  Camp Magis reaches out to all areas of Omaha in order to provide an exciting summer experience where neighborhoods are brought together.

Camp Magis has two sessions—each session being one week long.  Each day begins with a prayer at 8:45am and ends at 2:00pm or 2:30pm depending on the day.  Each session is packed with awesome activities: field trips to laser bowling and the IMAX Theater; visits from a magician and a policeman; prayers each day as well as the singing of the fight song; Healthy Choices class, computer games, and water balloon launch; “Spiderman Ball,” a chemistry lab, basketball, and Fear Factor Relay; and the campers even serve lunch to each other.

The staff consists of members of the Prep faculty and administration.  Each camper also has a Camp Magis counselor who is a student at Creighton Prep.  These counselors must experience at least 10 hours of leadership training prior to working at Camp Magis.

In keeping with the Jesuit tradition of reflection and evaluation, campers were asked to answer some questions concerning Camp Magis.  Here is just a taste of the responses: “I learned it is important to be nice to everyone.” “It is my favorite camp I’ve ever been to.” “I have learned to try my best and try new things.” “There is more to life than yourself.” “It’s the best thing I ever did in a summer.” “It was better than awesome.”

Although we provide healthy snacks each day, each camper brings a lunch. He should wear clothes that are cool, clean, comfortable and in good taste.  He can wear a hat outside, but he must take it off in the building.  It is recommended that he wear sneakers, as he will be participating in some athletic events.  No earrings, please.

We accept registrations on a first come, first served basis.  There is a $125 fee to help us cover our expenses.  This fee will be due with your application.  If the registration fee presents a difficulty, please contact me.  We do not want the fee to keep qualified boys from participating.

We consider it a privilege and an honor to serve your son if you give us the opportunity. Please be aware that due to the expected number of applicants, we will not be able to accept everyone. Spots fill up quickly.
